A Listening Post is where you get your information from in your Community


For me my listening posts include going to church and talking on the phone with my sisters and brother who are also students, my youngest sister attends high school, my other sister attends Texas Women's College and my brother attends University of Houston. 

At church we often have announcements that include local church events as well as community events. In a small southern towns I think the church is a listening posts for many, especially in my family. Church fills a spiritual need to be connected to God but also feels a community need through fellowship with other church goers. 

With my brother and sisters we all are similar in the things that interest us, from pop culture, games, conspiracies, and starting businesses, however the fact that we are all different ages and have different perspectives and personalities makes our conversations very interesting.

We came up with an idea to create a podcast but because of our crazy schedules we were unable to continue to record it.   


Some of the topics we have discussed on this podcast were Black Dads, Aliens, AI, Sims, Hair Care, the Dark Web, Astrology and More.

16. Opinion (Local Issue)

  My Opinion on SAU Meals  As a student here at SAU since 2021 I have only recently started eating on campus, this year I opted for a Commuter Meal Plan to help save money and time in between my busy schedule. I'm not going to just complain in this post but I do want to share my opinion on SAUs meal options. I'm gonna share the good, the bad, and things that I would like to change about our food options on campus. The Good  The things that I do like about our meal options here at SAU is the variety of options, we have Chic-Fi-La, Tacos for Life, Panda Express, Subway, Starbucks and of course there is the cafe, to some this may not be enough variety but I do think it's enough different types of foods to satisfy my cravings during the week. Personally I go to Chic-fi-la and Subway the most but I do go to the cafe every Wednesday because they serve soul food.  I like that they have Starbucks here and they have a snack bar with various fruits, sandwiches, for a quick bit...

15. Entertainment or Popular Culture

 GTA Fans show excitement for Grand Theft Auto 6  Grand Theft Auto is a popular video game based on stealing cars, wreaking havoc, shootouts and more R-rated content. The first version of the game came out in 1997 and it has been over a decade since a new version has been released. GTA 6 is set to release in 2025 by Rockstar Games, who is also responsible for other popular games like Red Dead Redemption.  Personally I'm not much of a video game player but I knew it had to be a pretty big deal when my brother asks if I had seen the trailer. After watching the trailer I was super impressed with the realistic graphics and characters. It looks like a movie honestly and I think I would actually enjoy playing it for the storyline.  I expect to see and hear a lot more about this game in the next year leading up to it's release in 2025, both good and bad.
