My Opinion on SAU Meals
As a student here at SAU since 2021 I have only recently started eating on campus, this year I opted for a Commuter Meal Plan to help save money and time in between my busy schedule. I'm not going to just complain in this post but I do want to share my opinion on SAUs meal options. I'm gonna share the good, the bad, and things that I would like to change about our food options on campus.
The Good
The things that I do like about our meal options here at SAU is the variety of options, we have Chic-Fi-La, Tacos for Life, Panda Express, Subway, Starbucks and of course there is the cafe, to some this may not be enough variety but I do think it's enough different types of foods to satisfy my cravings during the week. Personally I go to Chic-fi-la and Subway the most but I do go to the cafe every Wednesday because they serve soul food.
I like that they have Starbucks here and they have a snack bar with various fruits, sandwiches, for a quick bite to eat.
The Bad
In my experience, the Cafe is not the best option for me, I have tried going on other days besides Wednesday but I haven't really enjoyed the food options that they provide, in those cases I usually opt for pizza or a baked a potato. Another complaint that I have is the prices of the cafe meals, $9 for a lunch for college students is a little high, especially if they don't have a meal plan, like most commuters.
What I would Change
I would have more surveys for students and faculty to provide input on what their meal preferences are, after all that's who will be eating here most, at least once a semester. My survey will include questions about what their favorite meals are, what are things they don't like and overall experience questions to ensure everyone is happy with their experience with the food here.
I would also add more vegetarian or cultural dishes for students who have different diets and preferences.
Overall I think our meal options are pretty good, and it's super important to the health and well being of our student body so I'm grateful for what SAU offers in food options.
